While menopause research is woefully behind where it should be, (particularly here in the US), there are still a number of exceptional books and podcasts that can serve as fantastic supplemental resources as you go through your menopause journey…and beyond! Here are a few of my favorites (with links to
purchase)!

ON MY SHELF

Menopause - Medical/Practical Advice
These books range from fairly clinical to scarily relatable, but I found them all to be incredibly helpful
and reasonably approachable, even for my non-science-y brain. Fadal, who is slowly building an empire
supporting menopause efforts, provides a good starter book. Mosconi’s brilliant dive into the brain and
how our shifting hormones impact helped solidify my understanding of the seemingly disparate
symptoms I’ve experienced.

  • Estrogen Matters by Avrum Bluming and Carol Tavris
  • The Menopause Brain by Lisa Mosconi
  • The New Menopause by Mary Claire Haver
  • What Fresh Hell is This? by Heather Corinna
  • The Menopause Manifesto by Jen Gunter
  • How to Menopause by Tamsen Fadal

Aging / Longevity
Once I started studying peri/menopause, it is only a matter of time before I realized the overall
importance of healthy aging. These are three comprehensive and powerful books to get started.

  • Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity by Peter Attia
  • Unbreakable: A Woman's Guide to Aging with Power by Vonda Wright
  • Next Level: Your Guide to Kicking Ass, Feeling Great, and Crushing Goals Through Menopause and Beyond by Dr. Stacy Sims

General Personal Development & Wellness
Not specifically about aging or menopause, I have still found so much value in these titles, as I learn
more about myself and what I need to prioritize to make the most out of the second act of my life.

  • The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins
  • Atomic Habits by James Clear
  • All in Her Head by Elizabeth Comen, MD

Fiction
I am a big reader who loves a good novel. July’s book was everywhere when it came out – there are
some very “adult” themes in this one, but I still found it incredibly relatable. Sandwich is more of a
family drama, with the mother very much in this stage of life. I am excited to see what other
menopause-adjacent fiction is released as more women become open about sharing their experiences!

  • All Fours by Miranda July
  • Sandwich by Catherine Newman

IN MY EARS

I know finding the time to read a book can be challenging. The links below are a collection of podcasts
and episodes dedicated to women, aging, and of course, menopause. There is new content coming out
in this space constantly – I will do my best to update regularly.
